Hypertension is also known as High Blood Pressure,is  the most common risk factor for cardiovascular disease.It makes heart work harder to pump blood to the body and contributes in hardening of the arteries and heart failure.

The different ranges are:


Normal: Less than 120over80(120
/80)
Hypertension stage 1 : over140-159 over 90- 99
Hypertension stage 2 : )160and above over100 and above
Prehypertension:120-139 over 80- 89.

People who are in prehypertensive range must be very cautious with their BP as it may turn into full hypertension if not treated or maintained properly.

Risk factors for High Blood Pressure:


The exact cause of high blood pressure are not known,but  several factors and conditions may play a role in development ,include:
Smoking
•Obesity
•Less physical activity
•High content of salt in the diet.
•Stress.
•Genetics/Family history
•Chronic kidney disease.
•Alcohol consumption
•Older age.


HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE PREVENTION

High blood prevention can be prevented by:

1)Reduce salt intake.

2)Maintaining a healthy weight. 

3)Reduce/avoid stress.

4)Avoid alcohol consumption.

5)Comply with medical prescriptions.

HOW CAN I LOWER SODIUM IN MY DIET

1)Use a food diary to write down the food,serving size,and amount of sodium.

2)Aim for less than 2300 milligram of sodium (about 1 teaspoon)per day.

3)Read the nutritional facts label on every food package.The amount of sodium is listed on the label.

4)avoid canned foods,processed foods and fast foods.

5)Use salt free seasonings in food preparation.

RESISTANT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

1)Uncontrolled Risk Factors:Poor control of risk factors such as obesity and diabetes can contribute to resist hypertension.
2)Not taking medications as directed:Failure to take medication on schedule or stopping medication without the doctors advice can cause blood pressure to become uncontrolled.
3)Salt intake:People who do not control their salt intake may get affected by resistant high blood pressure.
4)Effects of other drugs:Over the counter pain relievers,decongestants,and some herbal compounds can interfere with blood pressure control.
5)Other health conditions:Medical conditions such as sleep apnea and diseases of the adrenal glands or kidneys can cause resistant high blood pressure.
