BRAIN

                           BRAIN

The brain is divided in following three parts:-

1)Fore brain.
2)Mid brain
3)Hind brain

FORE BRAIN

Fore brain can be divided into two regions:-
1)Telencephalon
2)Diencephalon

TELENCEPHALON:

The largest part of fore brain which is differentiated into two cerebral hemisphere or cerebrum is called telencephalon.

CEREBRUM:-Largest part of brain.

FUNCTION:-Cerebrum is concerned with intellegence memory, learning, reasoning, and overall control of voluntary actions.
It is involve in all conscious activities.
It coordinated different sense together

CEREBRAL HEMISPHERE:--Each hemisphere consist of an outer grey matter or cerebral cortex and an inner white matter.

CEREBRAL CORTEX:-Cerebral cortex is the largest and the most complex part of human brain.

DIENCEPHALON

The diencephalon consist of two parts .
1)Thalamus
2)Limbic system

THALAMUS: The clearing house for sensory impulses is called thalamus.

LIMBIC SYSTEM:It is located between thalamus and cerebrum.

PARTS OF LIMBIC SYSTEM:

i) Hypothalamus      ii)Amygdala     iii)Hippocampus

HYPOTHALAMUS:It is also called thermostate of the body.
It also regulates body temperature, blood pressure,
                                  hunger,thirst,aggression,pleasure and pain.

AMYGDALA:The amygdala produces sensation of pleasure, punishment or sexual arousal stimulation. It also involve in feeling of fear.

HIPPOCAMPUS:It is involved in long term memory

MID BRAIN;In mammals mid brain is relatively small. It consist of optic lobes which are represented by four small bodies.

FUNCTION;It receives sensory information like vision odour etc.It receive information from spinal cord and send them to the fore brain.

HIND BRAIN;Hind brain consist of;

Medulla Oblongata.
Cerebellum.
Pons.
Reticular formation.

Medulla Oblongata; It lies on top of spinal cord

FUNCTIONS;It control voluntary actions like;

Blood pressure
Heart beat
Sneezing
Coughing
Breathing rate
Hicupping
Swallowing

Cerebellum; The cerebellum lies dorsally behind the optic lobes .It is highly convoluted .It is large in mammals and other animals.

Pons; Pon regulates activities like muscular co-ordination,facial expression, breathing and sleeping.

Reticular formation.;Reticular formation lies in pons, medulla, and mid brain.
